When we searched roots for the modern Pop-Rock music, found out that Music
Boxes and Street Organs were the first forms of recorded music. Music Boxes
were very popular and a big business in 19th century ( 1800 - 1899 ). In the
late 1800's, after Thomas Alva Edison invented a way to record music onto wax
rolls, recorded music started to develop into it's current form.
Music Boxes played usually simplified classical melodies. Street
organs had melodies of their own, but when we checked the existing notes for
the organ's melodies, they were too poor for restoration. It
was not possible to upgrade them to the same levels with the modern fault-free
music. Too many cracks for your ears, which are accustomed to the better
sounds.
Skipped them and checked old circus and theme park songs. From this EP you
find the results from the project. Song were made simultaneously. Finished
without any particular order. For the EP the songs were grouped and ordered
for the best listening experience.
Most songs were made without changes to original melody. Arrangements were
tuned for new instruments and longer life. The arrangements were made from
sequenced MIDI notes. Number of people who have been working with this
restoration project .. throughout the years ... is big.
The well known Entrance of the Gladiators - Circus Theme - is the most
modified from the songs.
+ + Entrance of the Gladiators + +
Entrance of the gladiators is Circus theme. It was originally written for
Circuses, and it has become a song from which Circus is known.
It was written by Czech composer ...
Creation of the song was a challenging job. The beginning / theme had been
played so many times, that something new was needed. First the song got grand
opening. Later came the simple play from the theme. Almost one-to-one copy
from the theme is played with music box.
Theme part got one additional repetion from the theme. Then it was enhanced
with occasionally played brightness and explosions. 2nd part is almost
unchanged. Jack fixed the beginning of the 3rd part. Original beginning cracks
a little. During the finalization piano solo in the middle of the 3rd started
to bother, and it was changed from flat play into more lively system.
+ + Barnum & Bailey's Favorite + +
Barnum & Bailey's Favorite is a song and circus. Song was
written in 1913.
Barnum's and Bailey's Favorite was originally selected for the workout.
Then it was dropped, because the arrangement has some problems with fading sounds. When you played the arrangement with too accurate
rhythm, Brightness instrument vanished in the fast repetions. First ... and for quite a long time ... we thought that there is something wrong with hardware / instruments.
? After the song was played with better desktop computers, they played
the song without dropped, dead notes. Possible that we'll make a new version
from the song.
Eventually it turned out, that the reason is in echoes. Brightness has rather long echoing time. Previous note is still playing, when the next comes. When you play the same note for longer time, at some point new note comes out with 180 degree phase difference to the sound and echoes which are already in the air. And this 180 degree phase difference kills the sound. Due this quite a many from the straight fading parts were
modified. For the final master midi, the fading notes were manually fine adjusted for avoiding fading sounds. Not very likely that we would play this arrangement alive, in tours or at Fairy Tale castle.
The phenomena, and the vanished notes are sometimes called as Dead notes.
In Circus / original arrangement the fading part is played with Brass. Brasses do not have problems with these repetions. They do not produce exactly the same pitches for every note, like synths, pianos, etc do.
After Barnum returned to program, it was much like Flying Circus, which was already finished. So we decided to add something new into it. In our ears Ghost Box with a bit spooky tuning was the best from the tested enhancements.
Barnum is often played with trapeze acts. The original song / arrangement
is a bit boring in stand alone play, as a song. Therefore we decided to leave
the modified sequences to the song. During the finalization, song got attractions, which sort of tries to "audiolize" movements of the acrobats, high in the air.
+ + Flying Circus + +
Flying Circus is a song and an old famous circus. All old famous circuses have a theme song. They are
nowadays played in all circuses. Not known how it was 100 years ago.
Cute background tracks, no faults and when 4 background tracks are played together they are like song. Slightly different from melody. Someone has worked long with the
arrangement. Usually it is almost impossible to play backgrounds alone. When some cover song for example has a good touching background, usually a short 10 second standalone play (
introduction ) is already too much. Have to play something in the foreground.
+ + Billboard + +
Billboard ... this piece of pop-history is from 1901. Billboard is theme
for Billboard circus.
Cute in Billboard is the melody. It is made with mixed black and white keys.
If you think that you have heard the same sounds in some other, later song, it is possible that you are mistaken.
The melodies with mixed keys are very rare. Difficult to get them going like this Billboard goes.
In the original circus arrangement, Billboard's cute melody was hidden
behind heavy background play . When songs for Circus EP were selected, this was marked as possible song for the EP.
Almost a year later when we took the 1st closer look to the original arrangement, it took a while before the actual melody was found from it. And
it was taken into construction.
Stripped the arrangement to minimum, so that you have a chance to hear the melody.
Song is played with almost standard instrument palette. Brightness and Warm Bell plays the melody. Synth Clarinet plays the solo in the middle.
Honky Tonk, and Ice Rain assists in background. Synth tuba at the lowest track.
During the creation of Circus EP, had quite a lot of talks about drum tracks.
All arrangements seemed to have more "circus" drumming, than they had or have, when they are played in circus.
With circus drumming we mean drumming, that the speaker asks "Can we drums please". And the band responses
with fast march like snare-snare hits.
Came to the conclusion that in live performance drums are used to emphasize the most exiting moments only ... In most circuses the band plays the songs without the special drumming. Use it only as a temporal effect.
In these songs, the amount of fast snare-snare drumming is reduced quite a lot.
+ + Theme Park + +
Theme Park misses production time notes. Song has three parts. 1st and 3rd
are near the original. Into 2nd we emphasized the sliding sounds at lower
frequencies. Thought that closing the part with an "accident" in
slides, would be good and funny way to end the 2nd part.
+ + Haunted House + +
Had two issues with this song. Thought quite a long, whether or not add power tracks into it.
Power songs loses their attraction rather quickly. Eventually decided, that Ep has enough of these, and left this without mind lifting lower-power tracks.
Music and voice are forms of energy. The lower frequencies have more power than high. Your ears can sense this. Therefore all power tracks are at the bottom.
Another problem was the name of the attraction, title of the song. The spooky
melody referred to magic / something horrible. Then song has carousel like rolling background.
Haunted House won the election from the title.
+ + Carousel + +
Carousel was released on Ekr833 site in spring 2015. This is exactly the
same song.
+ + Old Carousel + +
Old carousel is traditionally played theme park song for carousel.
Center part was evaluated to be nice, awesome and fresh.
Vintage melodies are sometimes quite messes. This belongs to those and it
was originally dropped from the EP because of it. Later Jack spent one Saturday with the mess and came from the workshop with
rhythmic, playable arrangement from the song. Then we failed to get good sounds to it. Finally decided to play it much like it was and is played in old carousels.
The song ends into a part, which is taken from failed attempt to play the
song with our own instruments. Thought it would be a good closing for the song and
the whole EP.

Said that old carousel is traditionally played song. Cannot say was, because the old fashioned carousels are still popular. There are replicas.
When original from the1890 - 1930 gets old, it is hardly ever wrecked. It is repaired and restored. After that it is usually sold to new owner / user.
+ + Bonus Song + +
+ + Are you sleeping, Brother John + +
Brother John was released on Ekr833 site in spring 2015. This is exactly
the same song.
+ + Bonus Song + +
+ + Baby Elephant Walk [ Club Mix ] + +
Elephant song from Henry Mancini. Popular and well known song.
Made as heavy Nursery Rhyme. Have been defending heavier Flintstones many years already. Same
defenses to the Baby Walk : If music has to respond all emotional stages, young people have also good and bad days. And so on.
Song is much played, based on two to three tones. 1 m 40s long play was a bit too long, for the people, who already knows the song. Jack wrote improvisations from the theme to the end. Original melody ends after minute.
The drum track was re-arranged so that song has flat 2/4 and 4/4 system. The 4/4 is bit tricky. It comes from double snare. First 4/4 half has bass-snare, second bass-snare-snare hits. At around one minute there is long tom-tom slide, where 4/4 is not present.

The improvisations are common in live performances, made in clubs. It is the explanation for calling the play Club-Mix. Traditionally these clubs are dark. Dusty, because of the smoke from cigarettes.
There aren't dance floors. Band plays something in the background, You sit, smoke, talk and drink there with your friends. All restaurants, including clubs, have a kitchen, you can get snacks and food from the club.
In principle the division between bar and restaurant goes with booze and kitchen. In restaurant you can have a meal and take booze. In bar you can take beer, coffee and fast food. From some bars you can get meals during dedicated hours. Cafeterias are concentrated to soft drinks, coffee, tea and sweet things ... cakes and other
delicatessen.
Restaurants are the only places you can hear bands playing live music. Bars and cafeterias are too small for live performances, there aren't enough customer seats for covering the costs. Then they miss the stage.
- - Commercial Release - -
With the commercial releases, we have no-intention to ruin, endanger
or give up from our ATS-site, games, girls, enormous popularity and vast
side-effect.
MP3 files on Boys site will be the much the same you find from the CD's.
Commercial releases are limited to warehouses, gas
stations, music shops, etc. On-line sales and distribution are forbidden. So that the
commercial releases do not disturb much more valuable on-line system.
Deal was originally aimed for testing a new kind of audio Cd format. All big
record companies rejected us and the idea of new format.
The deal was first attempt to keep Boys and huge side-effect alive,
in minds. A year later, in spring 2017, Jack released so many new
sensational scientific breakthroughs, new inventions and innovations,
that slowly fading popularity was no longer a big threat. The deal was
added to the terms for Boys on-line comeback.
Thieving banks, Finns, Swedes, midgets, web-jerks and others
naturally resisted both attempts to keep Boys alive with all their
might. Jack was near to lose his eyesight and life in the
counterstrikes. Laws and Lack of money were not a problem to these
terrorists.
Before on-line comeback the estimated gross value of the deal was
over $1 billion. The estimation was made before Ghost Dances and
Waltzing Witches, from the existing ready-for-release material. With a
proper worldwide distribution.
The deal has a huge option pack. Option pack provides you a legal and
exclusive access to over 80 brand new, good quality pop-rock melodies.
Written primarily to other artists, potential material for game sound
tracks. The value of this option was not included in the estimation.
Gross value is the total value of the deal to record company,
subcontractors and resellers. Our share from the retail price and gross
value is a lot smaller.
