A story about young attorney, who gets in to a relationship with an elder colleague.
Very touching story about the loss of a new born child. And what happens after that.

Emilia works at law firm. She gets attracted and also into a relationship with the senior partner Jack Woolf.

Her love affair with a married colleague leads to pregnancy.  Jack divorces his wife Carolyn, and marries Emilia. In the divorce Jack's and Carolyn's son William, was assigned to her mother. William spends his weekends and Wednesdays with Jack and Emilia.

Emilia's and Jack's own child, Isabel, dies almost right after the delivery. The loss affects to everyone around. Especially to Emilia.  The other troubled woman in the movie is naturally Jack's ex-wife, Carolyn, she is having difficulties with the loss her husband.

Emilia tries to be friends with her 8 year old stepson William. Unfortunately Emilia's sorrow and William's  personal problems makes the relationship quite difficult and troubled. Emilia unleashes her anger and sorrow from the loss to almost everyone around her. To her parents, Jack, Carolyn and also to William. Eventually Jack gets bored and pissed with Emilia's selfishness and selfish sorrow.

The story is told to you with the means of romantic comedy. The actual genre / story could be described with words Relationship drama. The movie is based on book, it concentrates on relationships and tensions between the characters.

The Other Woman is a choice of a person, who likes romantic comedies. And might be interested in getting something more than usual.

 Other Woman is also a realistic, quality movie : Besides the love and relationship stories, the movie has a message and something you can think about after you have seen it. If you are interested in social life / relationships, and want to do so.

The Other Woman /  Love and other impossible pursuits was filmed in New York during the autumn 2008.

Trivia : People who have raised children to William's age ( 8 years )  were estimated to be the greatest fans of the movie.

Correction : People who have watched the movie critically / in serious way, have complained about the beginning. There is a logical error in the script. The relationship between Emilia and William is developed in an unrealistic way ( in wrong order ). In real world relationships never develops like they do in the beginning. In few dialogues Emilia and William act and talk like complete strangers although they have spent weekends together for almost a year. And only a day before they were very familiar with each other . . . Well . . . Everything is possible in movies, and it is easy for a serious person to get confused, depressed and even pissed during the first 33 minutes. Most likely reason for the error is the long flashback in the very beginning. The makers and writers had other things in mind while compiling the story.

R- Rating

For some reason the R-rating was given to the movie from sexual content and language. The movie is targeted to female audiences, it has two love scenes without revealing nudity. You see similar kind of love scenes on TV everyday. The difficult and tough subject ( loss of new born child ) would've been much more better reason for rating : Emotionally disturbing contents or something like that.

If you have lost your child, watching the movie soon after the loss, is quite likely to be very depressing experience. Comforting emotions from seeing something similar on the screen usually comes after you have handled the loss with yourself.

? Natalie chose to produce and play Other Woman after two friends lost their new born babies. Another one right before and another one right after the delivery.

Genre Classification

The movie was originally classified as romantic comedy. The genre was the closest match to the contents. The movie / movie script does not concentrate on love affairs, it concentrates on the general relationships. The story is written and acted like Romantic Comedies.

The movie is made for female audiences. The movies which are made for women, lacks the proper Genre classification system. 

The current Relationship Drama genre classification is a non-existing genre. It was invented, after the contents was analyzed thoroughly by the time movie's success was analyzed.

What is SIDS ?

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome  is a sudden death of an infant. In SIDS infant just dies without any visible or detectable reason. Typically the infant is found dead after having been put to bed, and there are  no signs of having suffered.

Death is unexpected by medical history. And it remains unexplained after a thorough forensic autopsy and a detailed death scene investigation.

? Infants are not privileged to SIDS. People at all ages do pass away while sleeping. Without any visible reason.

White lies

 In the story Carolyn eases William's sorrow by saying, that according to Jewish Laws children start to exist after they are 8 days old. And Isabel, who died 3 days after the birth, never existed.

Carolyn lied. According to real Jewish laws, children do exist right after they are born. Just like in all the other religions.

"Carolyn was angry to Emilia and wanted to ease William's sorrow with something. So she invented a good multi-purpose story for him."
